THE BLUEPRINT
DOCUMENTARY & PANEL
A POWERFUL RESOURCE FOR UNDERSTANDING YOUTH CRIME AND PREVENTION, TOLD BY THOSE WHO’VE LIVED IT.
The Blueprint is a 70-minute documentary and live Q&A experience designed for teams working in youth justice, out-of-home care, education, mental health, and community services.
You’ll hear directly from 10 young men who have fully disengaged from offending. Each story brings raw honesty, real reflection and practical insight into what drives youth crime and what actually shifts it.
WHY THIS MATTERS RIGHT NOW
High-harm youth crime is rising.
✘ Young men are disconnecting - from school, from services, from community - earlier than ever.
✘ System contact is starting younger, and support systems are stretched thin.
✘ The people working closest with them rarely get to hear from them directly - or in depth.
✘ The Blueprint puts their voices front and centre - raw, lived, and grounded in what actually shifts identity, not just behaviour.
‘Honestly, this was probably the best and most powerful training/learning session I’ve attended. All professionals working in this system need to be made aware of this and see the direct impacts. Not just on immediate engagement but long-term outcomes’
Youth Justice Team Leader - Gippsland
WHAT THE BLUEPRINT DOCUMENTARY & PANEL COVERS
✘ Pathways into crime
Understand the complex web of factors - such as family and peer dynamics, community marginalisation, identity, mental health, and social media - that influence young people’s decisions to offend. The documentary explores how these factors impact their behaviour, sense of belonging, and relationship with services.
✔ Pathways out of crime
Hear directly from young people about the supports they relied on to break the cycle of offending. From strong mentorship and meaningful programs to key relationships and turning points, discover the strategies and personal strengths that helped them on their path to a crime-free life.
‘The film provides a compelling look at the need for early intervention strategies for crime prevention, shaped by the voices of young people with lived experience of the justice system and Child Protection system’
Child Protection Practitioner - East Metro (Melbourne)
