16 Yards provides lived-experience mentoring for young people involved in the youth justice system.
We deliver one-to-one mentoring and early intervention programs for young people. We also provide training and consultancy to people and organisations working in youth justice, community services, education and related areas.

About the role
We are looking for a capable, self-motivated and highly organised person to support our team with administration and day-to-day operations.
You will report to our Practice Lead and help manage participant records, internal systems, invoicing, bookkeeping, payroll administration, rostering and compliance.
There is a lot of variety in this role. It would suit someone who likes taking responsibility, keeping things organised and improving the way things are done. As 16 Yards grows, there will be opportunities to learn new skills and take on more responsibility.
The role is initially two to three days per week and may expand over time. It is a hybrid position, with time split between our Collingwood office and working from home. A laptop and phone will be provided.
Key responsibilities
Providing administrative support to the Practice Lead and broader team
Managing participant records, referrals and service information
Entering and maintaining information in internal databases and case-management systems
Supporting invoicing, bookkeeping and payroll administration
Assisting with staff and service rostering
Coordinating appointments, meetings and calendars
Maintaining compliance records and assisting with reporting requirements
Supporting general office administration and record-keeping
Helping to improve administrative systems and processes
Assisting with other operational tasks as the organisation grows
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Experience using databases, case-management systems or other internal data systems
Experience with invoicing, bookkeeping, payroll administration or similar financial processes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
The ability to manage competing priorities and complete tasks without close supervision
Initiative, good judgment and practical problem-solving skills
A reliable, accountable and professional approach to work
A clear understanding of privacy and confidentiality
An understanding of youth justice, community services, social services or a related area
The ability to build genuine connections with justice-experienced young people and approach them with unconditional positive regard
A strong connection with the purpose and values of 16 Yards
Desirable experience
It would be helpful if you have:
Experience using NDIS administrative, participant-management or billing systems
Experience working in youth justice, community services, NDIS administration or a related area
Experience using Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
Experience with compliance and organisational reporting
A current driver’s licence
Requirements
You must have a current Working with Children Check or be willing to apply for one immediately.
The successful applicant may also need to complete other screening checks relevant to the role.
